Services of the firm and departmental teams

Probate, Trusts and Tax Team

This team is headed at the Colchester Office by our Senior Partner, Martyn Carr, working with Linda Stansfield and Leslie Jones. Other members of the team are permanently based at our branch offices. They are Sue Morsley and Edwin Edwards at our Manningtree Office, and Jonathan Juby at our Frinton Office. All are accredited members of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners. Jonathan is assisted by Shirley Brookes at Frinton.

Their work includes the preparation of wills, Enduring Powers of Attorney and the administration of estates, tax and estate planning, the present and future administration of both personal and deceased’s estates and Court of Protection matters.

Martyn Carr can also advise on agricultural matters and Jonathan Juby also advises on property and commercial matters.

Property and Commercial Team 

This team is headed by Paul Connolly who advises on commercial and property matters. His work includes landlord and tenant matters, site development, agricultural sales, purchases and tenancies, and general partnership and commercial law, the incorporation of businesses and charities, company sales and the setting up of partnerships for new and existing businesses. He is also able to give advice on taxation matters arising from these areas.  Residential conveyancing is carried out at our Colchester Office by Roger Ennals and Robert Bartholomew, who also deals with conveyancing at the Manningtree Office. Michelle Goldman handles the conveyancing work at our Frinton Office. All three are extremely experienced in property matters.

Litigation Team 

This team is headed by Lloyd North, a member of the Solicitors Regulation Authority Personal Injury and Children panels, and a solicitor advocate. He and James Gomm undertake a broad range of claimant and defendant litigation, particularly in personal injury, employment, commercial and probate disputes. Lloyd also acts for children and parents in child care cases.

The Family Team

This team is headed by Ian Richardson. Ian is a Resolution Accredited Family Law specialist, mediator and collaborative lawyer and advises on all family matters, although he specialises in financial settlement upon relationship breakdown. He is also a member of the Solicitors Regulation Authority Family Law Panel.

Dawn Dorrell specialises in cases of domestic violence and disputes concerning children, and has many years’ experience in this area.

Kath Golding works with Lloyd North in childcare and related issues, acting on behalf of both parents and children. Kath is also a member of the Solicitors Regulation Authority Children Panel.
