Ian Richardson Ian Richardson was admitted as a Solicitor in 1994 and joined the Firm in 1998, taking responsibility for the Firms Family Law Department. He was appointed a partner in June 2004. A Law degree from the University of Sheffield was followed by practical studies at Chester Law School and then some 7 years in the East London/West Essex area, originally as a Trainee Solicitor and thereafter as a Family Lawyer. Initially Ian worked in Civil and Criminal litigation. He liked the close involvement that comes from criminal work but not the midnight call outs. Ian moved onto Family work and liked it, thrown into it at an early stage when he was appointed to fill the shoes of a Partner on maternity leave. |

Since then Ian has practised full time in Family work. “I do like it. It’s an area in Law that involves finding sensible solutions for clients and their families as well as the use of legal expertise. I am patient with clients and I am good at helping them to find their way through what is a very difficult period of their lives.” Further training followed as a family Mediator. “It can be a fast and simple way of helping people find their own solutions to family problems. The use of mediation is something that could be encouraged more widely.” Ian is an accredited specialist with the Solicitors Family Law Association, and has been appointed to the Law Society Family Panel and the Law Society Family Mediation panel. Ian Richardson lives in Colchester with his wife and young children. |
