Roger Ennals

Roger Ennals is of East Anglian family, born in Maldon and has always lived in Essex.  Following a Law Degree externally from the University of London and Articles at Chelmsford Borough Council he joined the firm in 1976, becoming a Partner two years later.

In early days he held a broad general practice (indeed representing the Defence in two murder trials) but had moved to a specialisation in property work from 1980.  Nevertheless, he retains a Licensing practice that sprang from that earlier period.  He has a great depth of experience in property law, acting in both residential transactions, property development and advising in Planning matters.  He enjoys his work.  “I like practising law very much, I like dealing with people, managing what they need to do.  I get on with people.”  He has  found a friendly and effective relationship amongst the property lawyers of Colchester, a co-operative spirit that is far better than many other towns.

Roger Ennals is a committed Christian and has found himself deeply involved with the Anglican Church, being both a member of the Deanery Synod and Church warden.   At a more pastoral level he is a Trustee of Christian Youth Outreach involved in youth work.

He is married to Angela who was previously a legal clerk with the firm.  He has one daughter.   His true past-times are theatre going, gardening and painting (not much time for that!!) and he remains our principal cartoonist.   But, “…any spare time I have I spend with my family, my daughter.”     Striding between home and work in most weathers helps to keep him fit.
