Directions
to Sparling Benham & Brough, Frinton on Sea from the A12
1.
From the A12, in either direction, follow signs for the A120 to
Harwich, to the north of Colchester. Do NOT take the A1232 in to Colchester, unless you
intend to go in to Colchester in any case.
2. After about 5 miles on the A120, take the slip road to the left, on
to the A133 to Clacton-on-Sea. This bends and crosses over the A120. (If you miss the slip
road, continue to the roundabout at Horsley Cross and turn right on to the B1035 through
Tendring to Thorpe-le-Soken - for directions from there see 6 below).
3. After about a mile, take the first exit at the roundabout, still on
the A133 for Clacton-on-Sea - this is now single carriageway.
4. Pass a petrol station on the left, and a Little Chef on the right,
and at the next roundabout take the first exit, now on the B1033 for Weeley,
Thorpe-le-Soken, Frinton-on-Sea. Off other exits of this roundabout there are more
extensive services available, if required.
5. After about a ¼ mile, at the next roundabout the first exit is the
access to Weeley Crematorium. Take the second exit, still on the B1033, through Weeley
village to Thorpe-le-Soken. At the approach to Thorpe-le-Soken, the B1035 joins on the
left from Horsley Cross (see below).
6. In Thorpe-le-Soken, continue straight at the mini roundabout, still
on the B1033. After about 1 mile, there is a turning to the left on to the B1034 which
leads through Kirby-le-Soken. For Kirby Cross and Frinton-on-Sea continue on the B1033 in
to Kirby Cross.
7. In Kirby Cross after about 1 mile pass the entrance to Kirby Cross
Station on the right and shortly afterwards there is a mini roundabout. (For Kirby Cross
Cemetery turn right here, go under the railway bridge, and the Cemetery entrance is on the
right, less than 100 yards beyond the bridge).
8. For Frinton-on-Sea keep straight at the mini roundabout. Follow the
road, you will come to another mini roundabout. Keep straight, immediately passed an Esso
garage on the right, take the right hand lane for Frinton-on-Sea.
9. For Frinton-on-Sea turn right at the next mini roundabout and
immediately cross the railway level crossing, in to Connaught Avenue.
11. Number 62A Connaught Avenue is on the left hand side, immediately
opposite Lloyds TSB and just before the National Westminster bank. If there are no parking
spaces available in Connaught Avenue (there often aren't) turn left into Harold Grove
immediately before the National Westminster bank where on street parking is normally
available within 200 yards. |
